Refuges et sanctuaires
This series of works was created between 2025 and 2026 for the exhibition “Refuges et Sanctuaires”, exhibited at Europia Galerie in Paris in September 2026.
These artworks are rooted in the idea of indigeneity as a state of symbiosis with flora and fauna, a relationship to the natural world that runs throughout the series, where the human condition seems bound to the fate of trees and earth.
Another thread running through the exhibition is the challenge of building a life in a wounded, and wounding, environment. Pain surfaces in scarred skies and a blood-toned palette, as well as in the anguish of exile and displacement, evoked through the recurring symbols of birds and boats, or in a hesitant figure caught between colours and textures.
These collages respond to the hopes, dilemmas, and pain the artist senses animating West Asia in recent years.
